Along My Southwest Horizon

Walking due north from the house, you are in the middle of a developement known as Carolina Peaks. Currently in financial limbo, the area has seen no activity for over four years. As far as I’m concerned, it can stay that way. Deer, coyote, and wild turkey, call it home. This view is back toward the southwest, and beautiful Lake Lure is nestled between the two distant peaks. The one on the right is 3,900 foot Mount Shumont. The mountain to the far left is Dick’s Mountain. This entire area is known as Otter Creek Valley. The temperature at sunrise today was 25 degrees, and ice ribbons had grown from the red clay, but it didn’t seem to deter my friend, Buddy, below, from joining me on my morning walk.

Don’t blame you, I’d prefer your beautiful view, too.
