The Incredible Hay Harvest of 2012


After living here three years, I’ve come to realize that the number one crop in this area is hay. In the world of hay, it’s considered to have a high protein level. Farmers sell the hay to northern markets. Most fields yield two crops per summer, depending upon rainfall. The scent in the air makes driving through the valley such a pleasure. The mountain here is Long Mountain with Pinnacle Peak to the left. These are huge fields, as you can see.
