Very Unusual “Opposite” Sunset

After the Sun had already set this evening, and during a light rain, I was suddenly aware of a rusty glow surrounding the house and ridges. Hoping I might find an unusual sunset rainbow, I rushed out with the camera and tripod, but to my surprise, the glow was coming from due east, away from the setting sun. High storm clouds were boiling from the storm that was passing over, and were so high up, they were still catching the sun’s rays. I spread the tripod in my driveway, and let the camera take a time exposure of the eastern sky. What you see here is almost exactly what I saw, and the strange color and lighting lasted for less than a minute. The western sky was a dull greyish blue. I’ve never seen anything like it, and I’m so pleased that the moment was captured for me to share.
