Turkey Tail Mushrooms for Thanksgiving
Last year I featured a colony of Turkey Tail Mushrooms, and this morning I found another colony in a different part of the woods. They grow on rotting logs, and their color is determined by the nutrients they can extract.
They get their name from their unusual shape. It might take years for them to finish off a dead log. There is a healthy colony of white mold alongside these specimens.
Very neat discovery. I missed this last year and they do look like tiny turkeys Patsy
